New York Container Terminal, a full-service container and general cargo handling facility in the New York Harbor, has requested that BCI present a special Sexual Harassment Awareness training workshop for its staff members. To ensure that all its personnel are able to function comfortably in an equitable and non-hostile environment, and in accordance with federal EEOC regulations, NYCT is taking steps to promote internal sensitivity to harassment issues. The goal of this training is to promote and maintain a productive work and therapy environment free of conduct which harasses, interferes with, or disrupts any employee’s work performance, creates a hostile, offensive, or intimidating work environment, or causes discomfort or offense to customers. Through this training, NYCT intends to ensure that all staff members are treated with respect.

A Senior-Level Instructor and Sexual Harassment Awareness Expert from Baker Communications will travel to New York to work with NYCT staff members. Participants will learn the legal definition of sexual harassment, how to recognize different categories of harassment, and strategies for preventing harassment from occurring. Participants will explore when and how to report incidents of harassment, and how best to fulfill their legal requirements. Seminar attendees will also have the opportunity to study situational scenarios and learn the best ways to respond.
